THE .SI FIELD GUIDE
One-word .si domain ideas
Explore one-word .si domain ideas and dictionary compounds. Test pronunciation, spelling, cross-language meanings and trademark conflicts before registration.
One-word .si domains can make a brand easy to describe when the word has a useful meaning and predictable spelling. The collection includes dictionary words and established compounds, not an inventory of names guaranteed to be available.
Ideas are not advertised as available. Check a name to retrieve its status. Counts describe combinations, not available inventory.

A dictionary word should earn its place
Choose a word because its meaning fits the project, not simply because it appears in a dictionary. Compass might suggest direction; canvas might suggest creation; meadow might suit a calmer tone. Those associations are editorial examples and do not imply an existing product’s identity or an available registration. Write down the message the word gives a first-time visitor. If the association is too vague, a descriptive compound may explain the service better than a fashionable single word.
Test pronunciation and spelling separately
Say the complete .si address aloud, then ask someone to write it down. Silent letters, regional spelling variants and plural forms can produce different answers. Repeat the test with the word displayed and ask the person to pronounce it. A name that succeeds in one test may fail in the other. Prefer the version your audience can reproduce consistently, and decide whether common alternate spellings create a meaningful risk for the project.
Check meanings across languages
A word can be familiar in one market and confusing or inappropriate in another. Review the languages used by customers, team members and the markets you realistically plan to serve. Do not assume an English dictionary meaning is universal. Include the .si ending in the review because it is officially Slovenia’s country-code extension. For a multilingual product, ask native speakers to assess the full name rather than relying only on an automatic translation of the label.
One word, a compound or a coined brand?
Words such as firefly and northstar are compounds written as one token; this collection includes them alongside simpler dictionary words. A compound can add imagery or specificity without requiring a hyphen. A coined brand may be more distinctive but need more explanation. Compare these options using pronunciation, spelling and relevance, not a promise of scarcity or resale value. Every candidate must still meet the registry’s character rules and pass an individual registration check.
A familiar word is not automatically legally clear
Search for existing services and relevant trademarks using the exact word and related spellings. A common dictionary word can still function as a protected brand in a particular category. Once you have a viable shortlist, run a real registry lookup and compare registration and recurring renewal prices. Save the checked time with your decision notes. A no-record result, a short length or a familiar meaning does not guarantee checkout success, legal clearance or future demand.
