THE .SI FIELD GUIDE
How we verify .si domain data
Availability interpretation, pricing snapshots, registrar verification and statistics methodology.
Our evidence hierarchy is registry and IANA first, provider statements second, and clearly identified analysis third. A dated observation is not presented as a permanent fact.
Availability
Names are validated locally, then queried server-side against Register.si RDAP. A 404 becomes no registration found, 200 or 401 becomes recorded, and other failures stay unknown. Published reserved names are checked before querying. Results are cached for up to 30 seconds and include the original check time.
Price and provider review
We capture publicly displayed USD standard offers and their renewal amounts. We do not fill missing fields with estimates. Price snapshots become visibly older after seven days. Registry listing is checked by entity name in the official directory. A listed entity does not automatically confirm every retail feature.
Statistics and limitations
We retrieve the public counters with explicit labels and cache successful results for one hour. A failed fetch retains a dated snapshot for up to seven days. We do not infer historical totals, growth forecasts or buyer motivations from rolling counts.
Updates and reproducibility
Every guide includes the sources used and its review date. Inspect the linked provider before checkout and the registry for binding rules. To report a factual discrepancy to the site operator, include the page URL, the observed value, the time and a primary-source link.
Why can registrar counts differ?
The Register.si homepage publishes an aggregate registrar counter. Its public directory is a separate source containing named cards and website links. We count the entries actually retrieved, preserve the retrieval time and do not add invented providers to make those counts match. The directory parser deduplicates repeated entity names and validates website protocols. Different source update times or coverage can produce a difference; the site does not assume a cause that the registry has not confirmed.
Primary sources
Registry rules come from Register.si. Delegation comes from IANA. Provider details come from the provider. Availability is checked separately and can change at any time.
