.si domain transfer guide

Learn how to transfer a .si domain using AuthInfo, compare transfer fees and renewal terms, and preserve DNS continuity.

To change a .si registrar, set an authinfo code through the current registrar and submit the code to the new registrar. A change of registrant is a separate process.

Transfer a .si domain in five steps

  1. Confirm access, the expiration date and the current DNS zone. Resolve any outstanding dispute with the serving registrar.
  2. Create a private AuthInfo code through the current registrar. Keep the code out of public posts and shared screenshots.
  3. Submit the domain and AuthInfo to the receiving registrar. Verify the quoted transfer fee; a registrar change preserves the registration period.
  4. Keep the existing nameservers and mail settings in place while the new registrar processes the transfer. Moving DNS hosting is a separate task.
  5. Confirm the registrar change in RDAP and the new account, check the retained expiration date, and reset auto-renew and independent reminders.

Prepare the transfer

Confirm account access, renewal dates, current contact details and the nameservers in use. Obtain instructions from both registrars and check any locks or disputes. Do not publish the transfer code or paste it into an ordinary support forum.

Check the term and fee

A free .si transfer does not automatically add a renewal year. Ask the receiving provider to confirm the retained expiration date and any transfer or renewal fees before you approve the move. Export your current DNS zone if you also plan to move DNS hosting.

Verify completion

Inspect public RDAP for the updated registrar and expiration events. Keep the site and mail configuration working while you verify the new account. Changing registrars does not inherently require changing nameservers.
